Trump Hunt
Spring 2017 , Alumni Gallery Show (Graphic Art), EVC
For this project, the nature of this assignment was to create a fake product that looks real and was to be physically displayed. In my proposal stage, I decided to create a fake game cover of Donald Trump based off of the retro Nintendo Entertainment System title Duck Hunt. The idea was a played off the notion of how certain individuals disliked Trump and how they would enjoy shooting Trump in a video game format. Added to that, the reaction of certain ethnic groups of people were taken into account, but there was no clever way to indirectly hint to Trump’s hatred towards certain people. Because of that, I made some political puns placed on the caution waring backside of the game cartridge. To make this a more of a complete vision, I to obtain an original Duck Hunt gun in which I created a custom labels that exerted repetition of my fake game title and color. In terms of color and text, I tried to keep it close to and resemble the original game as much as possible while maintaining my concept. The labels on the gun, were just more of extension of the piece that was intended to make this product more believable. This product, at least for me, is not intended to be political but rather just a pun on the idea of how many people in our society today would actually enjoy playing this game if it was to be real.
